Hollywood vs Aventura for Jewish Families

A calm comparison of two of South Florida's most discussed Jewish communities.

Hollywood and Aventura attract very different families, even though both are popular Jewish destinations in South Florida.

Hollywood (and especially Emerald Hills) is suburban, family-oriented, and built around walking-distance Orthodox community life. It suits larger families who want a yard, schools, and shuls within walking distance.

Aventura is more urban and condo-driven. It feels familiar to Israeli families and offers strong Hebrew-speaking infrastructure, kosher dining, and an upscale lifestyle near the water.

Choosing between them is rarely about price alone. It is about whether you want a suburban Shabbat street or an upscale, internationally connected lifestyle.

A good first step is to spend one Shabbat in each before any commitment.
